CME Emergency Medicine Physician Assistant-RTA

JVM is hiring Physician Assistant- RTA services in support of Emergency Medicine Operation at the Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC). The Physician Assistant will provide a range of services in primary and specialty care.  They will provide general screening and medical care and examinations of patients for routine, acute and chronic conditions involving any and all organ systems; provide immunizations; diagnose, treat and counsel patients.


  • Technically direct and provide care for a variety of diseases and types of injuries (i.e., acute, chronic, and minor trauma), and the skills to recognize emergency conditions in order to  diagnose, prescribe for and treat diseases, disorders, and injuries, and refer the more complex cases and serious conditions to qualified medical personnel and perform designated treatment.

  • Technically direct and teach other staff, provide educational lectures and participate in in-service training to staff members.

  • Promote preventive care and health maintenance including annual physicals, positive health behaviors and self-care through both formal and individual education and counseling.

  • Prescribe in accordance with approved treatment protocols and Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee approved medications and immunizations.

  • Identify a medical problem and determine appropriate action to meet the problem, including referral to a physician.

  • Perform specific diagnostic and therapeutic practices and procedures in accordance with scope of

  • Establish collaborative rapport with physician, nursing and others in order to promote and facilitate primary care services.

  • Teach patients and family member’s healthy regimen and responsibility for achieving

  • Attend staff meeting to provide case discussion, Continuing education and continuous quality improvement.

  • How Department/clinic supervisory personnel will monitor provider performance through government information systems and records, patient records, customer service information, contractor reports, and time sheets.

  • All other duties as assigned.



  • Required to have a minimum two years as a practicing PA in an Urgent Care Center or Emergency Department in the last four years.

  • Shall be able to read, write, and speak English well enough to effectively communicate with patients. 



  • Required to have and maintain a current, valid, unrestricted license to legally Practice in one of the 50 states in the United States, or the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a U.S. Territory.
  • Candidates must have ACLS, ATLS, and PALS certification.
  • Candidates must possess and maintain a valid Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification during the contract period of performance.
  • Required to possess certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
  • Required to meet Continuing Medical Education (CME) requirements.


  • Must pass criminal background check.

 Scheduled Weekly Hours:

  •  Fulltime


  • 8-12 hour shifts Days, Evenings, Nights and includes Weekends
